The Chiltern Aviation Society was formed in the 1970s. Initially meeting up above a pub close to South Ruislip, the group moved to the Methodist Church Hall in Ruislip in the early 1980s where we’ve been based ever since.
Although it’s unfair to pick out individuals, the Society would not have lasted this length of time without the efforts of Keith Hayward, our Chairman for almost the whole of the groups lifetime, and his wife Cecilia, our Catering Officer (arguably the most important role in the Society!) .
We were privileged to have had the late JWR Taylor, editor of Janes All The Worlds Aircraft as our president for many years and our current president is Phil Birtles the world renowned aviation author.
We meet once a month for aviation lecturers and arrange outings to aviation related sites.
